Nordic Walking Beginner's Course

Saturday 12th October 2019 from 11:15am to 12:45pm

Location: Staley Way car park.

Nordic walking is a great way for all ages and fitness levels to gain fitness, tone up, lose weight and improve their health! Using 2 poles, you engage the upper body which makes you feel lighter on your feet. The poles help take pressure off your knees and joints, and Nordic walking is great for neck and joint problems.


Use 90% of your major muscles to walk, burn up to 46% more calories, improve your posture, strengthen your core muscles, and tone your arms, legs & bum muscles! It is also a very social activity, which combined with exercising outdoors means it’s great for your mental health.


Nordic walking turns a walk into a workout, allowing you to walk further and faster without much effort, and is suitable for everyone regardless of fitness or ability. If you can walk you can Nordic walk!

 

This 3-session course takes you through the basics of Nordic walking so that you get the most from your efforts. You will learn how to use the poles to improve your posture and get your whole body mobilised and learn how to increase (and decrease!) intensity so that you control the exercise. All of this means that you`re working at the level that`s right for you.

 

Once you`ve completed the course you will be able to join any of the regular walks, confident in the knowledge that you`re in control of the intensity and able to get the most from the sessions.

The other sessions are Saturday 12 October (11:15am-12:45pm) and a graduation walk on Saturday 26 October (9:15-10:45am in Mossley). We do recognise that it is sometimes difficult to make every session of a course. Don`t worry about this - just let us know and we`ll arrange things to ensure you get the benefit of the complete course.
