  • Groups Baron Road Allotment Association

    We promote allotment gardening. Rental varies and is collected annually. Provision for disabled people and childcare are being looked into. The Allotment Association and the Gardening Club at Baron Road are working together to improve facilities at the site.

Monthly cultural meetings held on the last Tuesday of the month at Denton Conservative Club with guest speakers through the winter and spring on various gardening topics.

  • Groups Dukinfield Chrysanthemum Society

    Aimed at anyone with an interest in chrysanthemums and dahlias. Dukinfield Chrysanthemum Society won the World Championships in Harrogate 16/9/05. Children welcome -shows have a children's display section.

  • Groups Friends of Hattersley Station

    To undertake improvements to the station environment through gardening, environmental, cleaning, art and community projects to produce a safe, inviting and clean station for Hattersley residents and commuters to use. To involve schools and local youngsters through education, associated conservation, environmental and art works which will encourage ownership and pride in the area at a young age and, by doing so, reduce crime and petty vandalism. , ,

    No membership costs although aims to raise finances through grants, fund-raising, donations and by any other methods we can think of.

    Please Note

    Run by the group in conjunction with Network Rail, Northern Rail, TfGM, HNP, TMBC and other stakeholders. Volunteers welcome to take part in clean-ups, litter picking, shrub trimming, painting and decorating, gardening, art works, and other community events/projects. Hi-viz vests, gloves and equipment supplied, as are refreshments on the day but no expenses. The committee welcomes volunteer participation and meets as and when required. Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they want. All volunteers are listed on the group's own database and will be contacted at least a week before activities take place. Babs also is the Health and Safety advisor for the group.

    Fixed events - Annual Plant Sale on late May Bank Holiday Sunday from 11am to 3pm and Monday from 10am to 3pm. Annual horticultural show (90 classes) on August Bank Holiday Sunday from 2pm to 5pm and Monday from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Horticultural supplies store (available only to members) open most Sundays throughout the year: March to August from 11am to 12am September to February from 11.30am to 12 noon. Members meetings held on the second Sunday morning of January March May July, Aug (Show meeting, all welcome) September and the first Sunday morning in November. Evening events: as arranged on autumn and winter evenings illustrated talks on a variety of horticultural and related topics. Usually commencing at 7.30pm.
