  • Groups Eden Hattersley

    Aims to build relationships with young people to help improve self-esteem and maximise potential through education (informal and formal) based on a biblical foundation. Some small group work done in addition to assemblies RE and PSHE lessons taken in local schools. Eden runs youth clubs, Kids clubs, Football and Basketball groups, Street outreach sessions and mentoring programs in the Hattersley area.

  • Groups Friends of Hattersley Station

    To undertake improvements to the station environment through gardening, environmental, cleaning, art and community projects to produce a safe, inviting and clean station for Hattersley residents and commuters to use. To involve schools and local youngsters through education, associated conservation, environmental and art works which will encourage ownership and pride in the area at a young age and, by doing so, reduce crime and petty vandalism. , ,

    No membership costs although aims to raise finances through grants, fund-raising, donations and by any other methods we can think of.

    Please Note

    Run by the group in conjunction with Network Rail, Northern Rail, TfGM, HNP, TMBC and other stakeholders. Volunteers welcome to take part in clean-ups, litter picking, shrub trimming, painting and decorating, gardening, art works, and other community events/projects. Hi-viz vests, gloves and equipment supplied, as are refreshments on the day but no expenses. The committee welcomes volunteer participation and meets as and when required. Volunteers can give as little or as much time as they want. All volunteers are listed on the group's own database and will be contacted at least a week before activities take place. Babs also is the Health and Safety advisor for the group.

    Please Note

    The club is welcoming and friendly with no more than 10 members and weekly sessions last about 90 minutes. Book Time for Yourself Clubs are run by library staff and volunteers who take turns in reading aloud to the group. Tameside Libraries are looking for volunteers to support Book Time for Yourself Clubs, see website for more details.

  • Groups Lifecentre - Hattersley

    Lifecentre Hattersley is a registered charity which has been in existence since June 2007. Previously, launched under the name of EDEN Hattersley in September 2002. It is a Christian organisation that offers training, education and personal development programmes for the benefit of the local community with a particular focus on young people. We promote activities which encourage mental, moral and spiritual well being with the aim that members of the community may develop as individuals and citizens.

    All our activities seek to encourage personal development through mentoring which leads to character building, enhancing self-esteem, confidence building, team working, promoting healthier lifestyles and educational achievement. Lifecentre Hattersley promotes a culture of learning that can lead to accreditation and qualifications and always encourages the unemployed back into work or appropriate training. For example: a number of our clients have achieved outdoor activity leadership, youth work and industrial rope access training. Our activities also fulfill the need for excitement that doesn’t involve anti-social behavior!
