Beanstalk is a children’s literacy charity, we recruit, train and support volunteers to help support children who have fallen behind with their reading in local primary schools across Tameside. Beanstalk's vision is that all children and young people have the essential skills they need to grow up and lead successful lives. Each Beanstalk reading helper works with three children and sees each child for two 30 minute sessions a week, during term-time. Together, they read, play and talk. With Beanstalk's support the child's approach to learning and enjoying reading is often transformed. A reading helper volunteer is matched with a local school within a 5 mile radius from their home or place of work. We complete DBS checks and cover travel expenses. We have on-going support and training for all our volunteers. We recruit Beanstalk reading helpers throughout the year. See our website for more information or call our office The scheme is across the whole of Tameside. We are currently looking for volunteers in the following schools: We are currently looking for 6 volunteers.
