  • Groups Greater Manchester British Korean Veterans Association

    Aims to organise, develop and co-operate in any way for the benefit of men and women of all ranks who served in the Korean War 1950-1953, also the subsequent peace keeping forces their widows and dependents. Many activities take place throughout the year both locally and nationally including reunions and social events. The national BKVA organises an official revisit to Korea programme for veterans and families. There are 59 branches around the UK and national membership stands at over 4,000. ,

    Local newsletter 'The Korman' is published 3 times each year. There is also a national magazine 'The Morning Calm' published twice each year. All members receive copies of these publications.

    Volunteers are required to complete an application form, if successful at the sift they will then be invited to an interview.

    Room/Facilities to hire

    We have Fire Station Community Rooms available for hire at some fire stations

    Please Note

    Volunteers are expected to commit to 2 activities per month. Volunteers book activities through a login facility (password protected website). If successful at interview they will attend a training course and have a local induction at their nearest fire station with their Volunteer Coordinator. Please note some volunteer roles require a DBS which will be completed through GMFRS Applicants must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. However if an applicant is bi lingual this is a huge advantage and it will help in engaging with local communities.

    Directions

    Volunteers are expected to make their own way to and from activities and meetings. Addresses and directions will be provided by GMFRS

  • Groups Greater Manchester Orienteering Activities (GMOA)

    GMOA is a voluntary organisation which sets up and develops permanent orienteering courses in Greater Manchester and its fringe areas in conjunction with local authorities and other organisations. GMOA has strong links with local clubs whose members are heavily involved in its activities. It hopes that people who try orienteering will ultimately become involved with clubs and take part in competitive orienteering events.

  • Groups Hamer Youth Trust

    The Hamer Youth Trust was established in 1966 by Revd. Canon Basil Hamer Vicar of St. Paul's Stalybridge from 1951 - 1964. It has disbursed many 1000's of pounds since 1966 to the benefit of Stalybridge youth.The Trust exists for the benefit of children and young people in Stalybridge and District. It makes small grants to organisations and individuals working with young people to assist them with projects, training or capital expenditure. Anyone wishing to make an application should contact the Secretary. The Secretary would like to hear from anyone interested in bequeathing even a small amount to boost its capital sum, or who has ideas on potential beneficiaries.
