We gift weddings to people with a terminal or life shortening illness living in the UK, through the generosity of the UK wedding and hospitality industry's.     Eligibility

    UK residents, aged 18 +, with a terminal or life shortening illness, who wish to marry but do not have the time or finances to organise it themselves.

    Fees

    Our services are free to those who fulfill our criteria and pass the application process.

    Please Note

    We run an continuous appeal for wedding dresses. These are offered to our brides and may be sold to help us to fundraise. We also accept any other wedding wedding related items or apparel. If you would like to donate your dress or any other wedding items please email us at dress@giftofawedding.org. We also accept monetary donations, which can be made through the big purple button our website or via our Facebook page. We are always looking for Administration volunteers to work in our office in Stalybridge.

  • Groups Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Cheshire

    Do you enjoy Gilbert & Sullivan? Want to learn more about the operas and their authors? We a a non-performing appreciation society, interested in the joint stage works of W S Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. We meet each month from October to May at a modern venue in central Manchester. Our friendly group of members enjoys a variety of entertainment connected with the operas. Meetings range from recitals by both professional and amateur singers and choirs, to talks about the operas or anything connected with them. Why not come to one of meetings?     Aims to organise, develop and co-operate in any way for the benefit of men and women of all ranks who served in the Korean War 1950-1953, also the subsequent peace keeping forces their widows and dependents. Many activities take place throughout the year both locally and nationally including reunions and social events. The national BKVA organises an official revisit to Korea programme for veterans and families. There are 59 branches around the UK and national membership stands at over 4,000. ,

    Volunteers are required to complete an application form, if successful at the sift they will then be invited to an interview.

    Room/Facilities to hire

    We have Fire Station Community Rooms available for hire at some fire stations

    Please Note

    Volunteers are expected to commit to 2 activities per month. Volunteers book activities through a login facility (password protected website). If successful at interview they will attend a training course and have a local induction at their nearest fire station with their Volunteer Coordinator. Please note some volunteer roles require a DBS which will be completed through GMFRS Applicants must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. However if an applicant is bi lingual this is a huge advantage and it will help in engaging with local communities.
